Aquasate

Sampi

Sampi was established by Peter Laughton in partnership with Fishtrade to turn Tuna waste into a useful product, mostly as liquid fertiliser but also oils and solid baits.
Prior to Sampi a company called Feedlink was turning the Tuna waste into dried fishmeal.
Peter Laughton used technology he developed in Melbourne and a lot of his own equipment from Melbourne to digest the Tuna waste and turn it to liquid fertiliser.
Peter Laughton moved to Port Lincoln in South Australia, while Fishtrade, (Charles Franchina and Terry Romaro), stayed in Fremantle and did all the paperwork.

Aquasate

Aquasate was created when Charles Franchina and Terry Romaro stole Peter Laughton's half share in Sampi.
Aquasate has now folded and the land in Port Lincoln sold.

A Field Guide to Phytoremediation

In 2010, youarethecity created the Field Guide to Phytoremediation, a DIY handbook to cleaning up toxic soils in your own backyard, neighborhood vacant lot, or other urban space. Working with soil scientists, urban farming activists, community groups, and others interested on (and in) the ground, we have expanded this research.

Misadventures with the legal system.

The Bunbury City council does not have any building inspectors, instead it uses a system of self regulation where builders only need to submit paperwork to the shire office.
This Page is a history of what happens when it failed, and the failure of the legal system to make it right.
